Nightmare world

Bloomin' Gardens Flash gameTHE PREMISE of Nightmare World being that apparently last night you ate too much cheese while watching a low budget horror movie. You went to bed for a good nights sleep, only to wake up in a world of nightmares. Fair enough, although some of us don’t actually need to imbibe anything for that kinda thing to happen . . .

Bloomin’ gardens

Bloomin' Gardens Flash gameFOR THOSE of us who are severely challenged in the “keeping plants alive” department, this game will present you with something completely alien . . . plants that grow faster than you can actually er, well, kill them . . . :-)

The challenge is to clear a path through what looks like a large bar of milk chocolate, but is in fact supposed to be a garden, before it becomes completely overgrown. Oh, and make sure you turn the sound on!

Is that a gun in your suitcase?

Luggage embossed with gun imageLOOKING FOR some unusual luggage and having a bit of sport with airport security?

A company has launched a range of suitcases featuring embossed images of either a gun, knife or an axe.

The cases, sold online for £98, are described as bringing “a touch of black humour and novelty to an object which is usually rather boring”.

Mhmmm, novelty cases are one thing, but packing your worldly contents into one of these and expecting it to arrive at its destination, is quite another thing entirely. Let’s face it there’s enough of a problem with that kind of thing as it is, without having an unamused airport security official making it any worse.

Pre-chewed pencils

Pre-chewed pencilsIN ONE OF those “you couldn’t make it up” kind of moments, a British design company has launched a range of pre-chewed pencils . . .

The pencils, called somewhat unoriginally, pre-chewed pencils, are intended to help children concentrate at school. The company - Concentrate claim that because the pencils look like they’ve already been chewed, it will be less likely that children will want to put them in their mouths.

Concentrate apparently specialises in products that help school children stay focused in class. Although it’s not clear whether they’ve considered the “ewwwww!” factor and subsequent trauma that may arise from a small child being made to use a pre-chewed pencil . . .

Crazy cat lady

Crazy Cat Lady action figureEVERY TOWN has it’s very own Crazy Cat Lady - or so the packaging would have us believe, but hey don’t take my word for it there’s even a quiz so you can test yourself, just in case you were wondering. And no, yours truly didn’t fall into the “Am I Crazy?” category . . . :-)

Erm, the crazy things that money can buy . . . Crazy Cat Lady apparently lives in a tiny house full of feral furry felines, has a wild look in her eye and knows each and every one of her cats by the roughness of their tongues . . . allegedly . . .

So, if you’ve ever wondered if you, or someone else was borderline cat crazy, then you can always take the test here.

Festering food

A CONTEMPORARY art exhibit in a Belgian museum is causing a right old stink . . .

The installation entitled “Spring is on its way” by Belgian conceptual artist Jan Fabre at the Antwerp museum of contemporary art (MuHKA), consists of onions and potatoes hung from the ceiling in condoms. Unsurprisingly the vegetables are rotting.

A spokesperson for the museum claimed that the work was about transformation and metamorphous.

Museum workers, security guards, several visitors and the local media have all complained about the smell of the decomposing vegetables.

Some shoots have burst through the condoms and other condoms have crashed to the museum floor under the weight of the rotting vegetables.

The museum however has no plans to remove Fabre’s installation which runs until Spring 2009, but is removing any vegetables that fall down.

It seems Fabre has a penchant for playing with food in public places because 8 years ago it seems he had the urge to clad some pillars at a university with ham. Well, until people started to complain about the smell that is.
